Adult Sunday School: September 30th 2012 Lesson series:

Relationships in the Church Lesson: Hearing Cries For Help in the Church

Key Scripture Text: James 1:19 19 My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. The NIV says: My dear Brothers, take note of this, be quick to listen and slow to speak and slow to become angry

Jude 1:23-24 22 SHOW MERCY TO THOSE WHOSE FAITH IS WAVERING. 23 Rescue others by snatching THEM FROM THE FLAMES OF JUDGMENT. There are still others to whom you need to show mercy, but be careful that you aren't contaminated by their sins.

Key thought: According to John Savage Author of Building Church leaders --When interviewed - Ninety-five percent of inactive church members have can trace their falling away to an experience of an “anxiety-producing event”—something as simple as a snub, a lack of care when really needed it, a moral lapse by a church leader nobody reached out when they needed. (So often a cry for help that goes unanswered) -- 95% If we learn to hear and respond to people’s cries for help, we can usually prevent their dropping out. And we all are responsible for hearing cries for help.
